At Botanica Medica, we are excited to announce the arrival of a Hydrogen gas (Browns gas) inhalation therapy device. Whilst more and more people have heard of the benefits of hydrogen enriched water, hydrogen inhalation is even more effective as inhalation allows for higher doses of Hydrogen to be delivered than drinking Hydrogen gas.
What is it?
Our Hydrogen Oxygen Inhaler Ionizer produces both pure hydrogen and Browns Gas (Browns gas is a 2:1 mix of Hydrogen to Oxygen gas). We will be providing the Browns gas mix for treatments
Decades of research and human trials have shown the outstanding safety of this treatment, with no significant adverse effects reported. It has also been shown to be safely combined with standard medical treatments.
The list of conditions it has been shown to improve is wide and varied
– Cardiovascular Disease: improved blood vessel function and blood flow, improvement in heart structure after cardiac procedures and improved survival rates after cardiac arrest!
– Respiratory Conditions; including asthma, COPD, COVID.
– Neurological conditions, including cognitive decline, brain inflammation and hearing loss.
– Rheumatoid arthritis; lowering inflammatory markers.
– Liver diseases, including Fatty liver Disease and Hepatitis B infection.
– Rheumatoid arthritis.
– Hearing Loss (IDSSHL – idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss).
– Pre surgery to reduce post operative delirium and inflammation.
– Cancer; multiple studies have shown, when combined with standard cancer treatment, improved outcomes and better control of tumour progression.
Athletic performance and Exercise benefits:
– Increased speed.
– Decreased muscle fatigue.
– Enhanced endurance and relieved psychometric fatigue.
– Reduction in exercise induced inflammation (ROS – reactive oxygen species).
– Improved healing of acute sports-related soft tissue injuries, when added to usual treatments.
How does it work?
Molecular hydrogen gas (H2), is formed by two hydrogen atoms tightly connected by covalent bonds. H2 gas having the physical properties of very low density, strong permeability, and fast diffusion speed, it directly reaches cellular mitochondria (energy producing part of a cell), responsible for producing ROS (damaging reactive oxygen species) in cells and selectively reduce sthe levels of the most cytotoxic and damage causing ROS, such as hydroxyl radicals (·OH) and peroxynitrite (ONOO−), without interfering with metabolic redox reactions of energy production.
H2 gas also protects mitochondrial structure and function under stress and promotes the activation of Nrf2 signalling. Nrf2 is a master genetic switch which activates a few hundred genes involved in cellular protection, inflammation, detoxification, autophagy and mitophagy (autophagy is the protective, natural and conserved degradation of the cell that removes unnecessary or dysfunctional components. It allows the orderly degradation and recycling of cellular components. Mitophagy is the same process for mitochondria).
At Botanica Medica, we are excited to offer this new treatment for existing and new clients. We are offering a special introductory rate, to enable access for as many clients as possible.
As a special introductory offer, we will provide daily treatment, between 30 and 60 minutes, for $40 per week (up to 6 sessions per week) I recommend as many sessions per week as possible, to maximise the benefits.
We want as many of our clients to be able to experience the benefits of this therapy.
The more regular the treatment, the better the results. We recommend daily usage, to maximise the benefits conveyed by Hydrogen gas inhalation. Even if not able to use every day, the benefits will still compound.

Athletic and exercise benefits
Improvements in high intensity intermittent cycling performance, increased speed.
Decreased muscle fatigue after strenuous exercise.
Decreased muscle fatigue during heavy exercise.
Reduction in exercise induced ROS (reactive oxygen species)
Enhanced endurance and relieved psychometric fatigue.
Improved healing of acute sports-related soft tissue injuries, when added to usual treatments.
Many studies point to the beneficial effects of H2 therapy in relation to exercise and sports related injuries, including administration forms like H2 inhalation, drinking of H2-rich water and topical H2 application.
Trial results outlines below
A pilot study found that oral intake of H2-rich water prevented an elevation of blood lactate and decreased muscle fatigue during heavy exercise in ten male elite soccer players and suggests that it can be a suitable means of hydration for athletes.
Another study involving eight male cyclists found similar results, oral intake of H2-saturated water improved performance in intermittent cycling exercises when the duration was longer than 30 min (anaerobic).
A clinical trial involving ten men and ten women found an increase in peak running velocity up to 4.2% in a running time-to-exhaustion test after seven days of inhaling 4% H2 for 20 min each day.
One study showed that drinking H2-rich water before and after strenuous exercise reduced the exercise-induced increase in ROS levels in eight male volunteers. This might help prevent accumulative muscular fatigue even though exercise performances were not significantly different over the two 3-day consecutive exercise tests, compared to placebo water.
A larger-scale study investigated the effects of drinking H2-enriched water right before cycle ergometer exercise sessions in healthy non-trained (n = 99) and trained (n = 60) participants. They found that H2-water, compared to placebo water, enhanced endurance and relieved psychometric fatigue as measured by maximal oxygen consumption and Borg’s scale and visual analogue scales, respectively. Additionally, healing of acute sports-related soft tissue injuries can be positively impacted by both oral and topical H2 treatment for 2 weeks, next to standard-care .
Flipping the coin from high-level exercise, H2 therapy has also been studied for managing lifestyle-related disease states. Typically drinking 1–2 L of H2-rich water daily is shown to reduce ROS levels and contribute to body fat reduction in overweight people [69, as well as managing lipid and glucose metabolism in patients with diabetes type 2 [70] and metabolic syndrome.
