Nerve pain and nerve damage comes in many different ways.

Many  experience nerve pain, burning, numbness, disturbing cold or hot sensations, or constant nerve tingling (known as neuropathy).

More than 1 in 5 people over 45 experience chronic pain and it can be quite debilitating, especially as we get older. This pain can not only disrupt or interfere with daily activities, it can lead to insomnia, anxiety and depression.

There can be many causes and conditions with chronic nerve pain, including

Sciatica

Trauma

Migraine

Fibroimyalgiaspinal

Disc Prolapse

Spinal narrowings

Shingles

NERVE DAMAGE FROM – Diabetes,  Cancer,  Chemotherapy,  other prescribed medications

Sufferers are often prescribed medications which may help, but don’t improve the underlying damage and often come with many worrying side effects. And the pain relief from these can be quite minimal.

Most nerve  pain sufferers are unaware that there are safe and effective non prescription alternatives, both supplements and also affordable medical devices that can be used. In fact, one such supplement is MORE effective than prescribed medications, without adverse effects. As detailed in a  September 2022 AJP article ( Medication in review – Conversations on Neuropathic Pain), the supplement PEA (palmitoylethanolamide) is almost 100%  more effective  (ie. twice as many people get a 50% reduction in pain, compared to the most effective prescribed medication – amitriptyline AND four times more effective than pregabalin , another more expensive commonly prescribed medication).

Not only does it reduce pain, it can reverse the damage and help repair the nerves. It’s a substance that is released by our nerve cells, in response to damage.

This is a supplement I have prescribed for many years, and has been life changing for many of my clients. As such it has also been listed as a TGA approved listed medicine.

PEA has also been shown to reduce symptoms of depression, along with safely enhancing the effect of different anti-depressants, in human trials.

There is a large body of knowledge in understanding the causes and mechanisms of neuropathic pain. There are differences between physical and biochemical causes of neuropathy, and the changes that occur in nerves to cause this pain and damage.

Damage to the energy production part of the cell (mitochondria ) is seen as THE crucial element in both the development of neuropathies and also in its reversal. Research has shown a large number of nutritional supplements and herbs that can repair this damage and neuropathy. I have over a decade of experience in successfully treating this kind of damage and look forward to helping you do the same?
